Beaded Knitted Miser's Purse 13-1/2" long (plus 3" of fringe on each end) by 3" wide; Gold/Copper/Silver Metallic Luster Beads on Grey Thread; 2 Sterling Silver scrollworked rings serve as closure to each side.
A
Miser's Purse is worn over a belt. It has two seperate
compartments, that are held closed by the Sterling Silver
rings that are added to the center plain-knitted section
as the purse is made. One side is to hold coins,
the other side is for bills. This type of purse
was popular in Victorian times, and I am told that if
you watch the old black & white version of "A
Christmas Carol", Scrooge is wearing one - how fitting!
(See picture below of how it is worn.)
